DESCRIPTION

 

 

The global objective is to strengthen the capacity of the Delegation to communicate on its operations with the African Union Commission but also on AU-EU relations more broadly.

 

The specific objectives of this assignment are:

 

To promote the Africa-EU Partnership, including the added value of both Unions working together and exchanging on continental integration processes in a border framework of multilateralism. Exploring the Unions' commonalities and diversities through cultural, public, digital, science, energy, climate, and economic diplomacy.

To strengthen understanding and engagement of the Delegation's target audiences in the various areas of cooperation.

To strengthen relations with continental media in Africa and Europe.

To continue producing high-quality audio-visual content for the Delegation's website and social media.

To improve the Delegation's communication practices and ability to communicate jointly with EU Member States, the African Union Commission, and other stakeholders.

To shift to a "storytelling" approach to communication by identifying compelling success stories.

 

Qualifications

 

Team Leader - Communication & Visibility (Senior)    APPLY

 

The team leader will be responsible for overall project implementation, coordination and supervision of the other experts.

 

Qualifications and skills

        University degree in journalism, communication, international relations, political science or related fields, or equivalent professional experience of at least 15 years;

        Excellent written and spoken English. Other EU and AU official languages are an asset;

        Demonstrated skills in production of audio-visual content, management of social media campaigns, and/or press relations are an asset;

        Knowledge of AU-EU relations or EU external relations/ development policy is an advantage;

        Knowledge of the media environment in Africa and/or Europe is an advantage;

        Proven skills in drafting project reports and ToRs is an advantage.

        Experience collecting best practices, lessons learned and human stories is an advantage.

 

General professional experience

        At least 10 years of experience in communication, public relations, journalism, international development, or related fields;

        Prior experience as a team leader is an advantage;

        Ability to work independently while assuring quality control on the work produced;

        Previous experience as a communication adviser for large companies or international bodies, particularly the AU or EU, is an advantage;

        Previous experience in organizing large-scale cultural events is an advantage;

 

 

Event Coordinator (Junior)

 

Qualifications and skills

·       A degree in communication, public relations, event management, or related fields, or equivalent professional experience of 8 years;

·       Excellent written and spoken English. Fluency in Amharic is an advantage.

 

General professional experience

·       At least 6 years of experience in event management, public relations, or similar;

·       Demonstrated experience of successfully managing large-scale events;

·       Experience of managing large-scale events in Addis Ababa is an advantage;

·       Knowledge of the Africa-EU Partnership is an asset.
