Value Chain Specialist and Deputy Team Leader, (National Specialist, Myanmar)Myanmar, South and East Asia DescriptionThe Climate-Friendly Agribusiness Value Chains Sector Project supports implementing the government's Agriculture Development Strategy (ADS), 2018-2023 by boosting competitiveness in value chains for rice, beans, pulses, and oilseeds in Magway, Mandalay, and Sagaing regions in the Central Dry Zone (CDZ). The project will: (i) increase climate resilience for critical rural infrastructure and promote quality and safety testing capacity; (ii) strengthen technical and institutional capacity for climate smart agriculture (CSA); and (iii) create an enabling policy environment for climate-friendly agribusinesses. The project will reduce food insecurity and rural poverty, increase smallholders' incomes and access to markets, and improve resource efficiency and environmental sustainability for agribusinesses. This job advertisement is for the Project Implementation Plan of the overall project. The objective of this position is to assist the Project Director of the PMU in ensuring efficient and timely implementation of the project, management of the PIC consultants, and effectively coordinating and linking all value chain activities and, thereby, strengthening all value chains. The deputy team leader will work closely with the Project Director and Project Manager of the PMU in developing the work plans and budgets and directing all aspects of implementation. The other PIC consultants are involved in (i) assisting the implementing agencies in specific subproject technical areas that strengthen the value chains and the linkages, and (ii) in assisting the PMU in financial management, in integrating the social development and gender action plan, and ensuring the social safeguards, and environmental safeguards and management plans. Qualifications requiredOnly the experts meeting the set criteria will be shortlisted and contacted. Relevant degree, e.g. in agricultural economics, agribusiness, business management, or agricultural marketing Professional experience requiredyears' experience in leading long-term value chain development projects, preferably on ADB funded, long-term projects; experience in project management of large teams with diversified professional roles and responsibilities; experience working in value chain development at least in Myanmar; good in English speaking and writing skills. National experts will have at least 7 years of experience relevant to the assignment. | ||
