| Profile: Expert for ASEM Public Conference on EU-Asia Inter-regional Relations Categoy of expert Senior (at least 10 years of experience) Duration 40 working days Requirements Expert for ASEM Public Conference on EU-Asia Inter-regional Relations should be a person who is widely respected in the policy research with substantial experience in EU-Asia international relations as well as knowledge of the public policy community (think tanks, academia, civil society, press and private consultancies) mobilising this community to provide high-quality input to meeting the global and specific objectives related to the Conference. Required expertise: - University education of at least Master level in a field relevant for external relations policy (international relations, political studies, development, sociology, and similar) - Post-graduate degree (PhD) and/or significant research history in the field of international relations policy. This is to be demonstrated by publications in internationally recognised sources, participation in recognised international conferences and/or membership in bodies with policy advisory function. - At least 10 years of experience in working in international and EU external relations - Knowledge of EU-Asia relations proved by his/her research and work experience. - Experience in working with think tanks and academic institutes in Europe and Asia active in research on topics related to EU-Asia relations. - Good drafting skills in English demonstrated by published (research) reports and studies - Strong skills in leadership, management and administration of policy debates on global level (at least EU-Asia level) would be a strong advantage. This is to be demonstrated by his/her involvement in projects and events requiring such skills. The first four requirements are minimum requirements and have to be absolutely fulfilled. EC rules applicable to any EC assignment • Working days are from Monday to Friday, if not indicated otherwise in the ToR • Per diem covers all expenses of the expert (local transport, hotel, meals, telecom, etc) and it is only paid if the expert stay overnight. • International travel: the EC only reimburse economy class flight tickets | |
